“Hospice is a place to make a difference, which is all I have ever wanted to do.”
“After living and working as a nurse and midwife in the UK, I got married and moved to the Isle of Man - having married a Manxman.
I had an interest to work in Palliative care and initially got a job working on the Hospice nursing bank.
I have worked at Hospice IOM now for 28 years! Initially as a nurse and then evolving, with extra training, into the psychological care of patients and their families both pre and post bereavement.
I am now the Supportive & Pastoral care Coordinator.
I love being involved with people and seeing how just listening to their problems can sometimes make such a real difference to them.
I will always be grateful to Hospice for allowing me to explore my interest in psychological / emotional care and facilitating training in these areas.
Hospice is a place to make a difference, which is all I have ever wanted to do.”
